For weeks now, months in some jurisdictions, America has witnessed looting, arson, assault, and killings by extremist street thugs like Black Lives Matter and Antifa who shriek and demand that the nation and capitalism “be destroyed for the sake of equity and fairness.” Most of the mainstream media refer to this chaos as “peaceful demonstrations” while in the background flames leap from businesses and hordes of thieves smash windows and carry off loot.
And now we discover that powerful billionaires are actually funding what can only be described as an insurrection, a revolution by “socialists” intent on destroying the U. S. Constitution and assuming tyrannical control of the nation through Marxism.
I was a cop in Miami, Florida during similar riots in the 1960s. In 1968 I killed a sniper after my police car had absorbed 13 bullets. I was one of dozens of police officers injured during the mini-insurrection.
Even then, and later as a homicide detective in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a part-time college professor of history for over 20 years, I searched for explanations—and found them—in the works of tyrants like Stalin and Lenin, Hitler, Mao Tse-Tung, Maduro, Castro and many others
China’s Mao conducted a “long march through the institutions,” utilizing a “cultural revolution” to take over the nation for communism.
We have also witnessed a “cultural revolution” playing out in the United States for nearly a century as extremists seize institutions and erase history in an increasingly successful campaign to initiate Marxist socialism. In 2003 in my book Going Bonkers: The Wacky World of Cultural Madness, I issued warnings about what lay just over the horizon. It isn’t that difficult to prognosticate. You dumb down education, poison the culture with “political correctness,” destroy the family unit, offer “free stuff” to everyone in exchange for their souls, fragment the nation into “grievance groups,” intimidate and hush opposition, abolish capitalism and important sections of the Constitution such as the First and Second Amendments which promise freedom of expression and the right to bear arms—and we are ready to shake hands with Karl Marx.
“Those whom the gods seek to destroy,” observed Britain’s Lord Tibbet, “they first make mad, and these (“woke,”) ideas have fermented in minds which are gravely unbalanced.”
If a six-six man with the physique of a professional wrestler can “change” his gender to female and compete in women’s professional sports, or, even more absurd, “change” his species to aardvark, then we are being conditioned to accept virtually anything, including the premise that people who push such agendas are morally and intellectually superior to the rest of us.
Is it wacky or is it reasonable? I submit, for university theater departments to ban classics like The Cherry Orchard from the school stage while approving a production of Betty the Yeti” about a logger who becomes an environmentalist after having sex with a lady Sasquatch.
Is it wacky or is it reasonable for feminists to insist that men should sit or squat to urinate because for them to stand at the function, which women cannot, is “sexist” and “macho” and therefore offensive?
Cultural madness has become cultural norm. America, and indeed much of Western society, has become conditioned to accept, endorse, and promote virtually anything. That which is tolerated by one generation is accepted by the next and embraced by a third. Go along with the tenets of the “liberal” society and you join the gelded herd to be praised, rewarded, and celebrated. Sound off like you got a pair and you find yourself showered with pejorative labels through which saner and more judicious voices are drowned out.
In 1943 the Moscow Central Committee devised a plan for its communist followers to use in dealing with critics:
“Members and front organizations must continually embarrass, discredit, and degrade our critics,” the Committee decreed. “When an obstructionist becomes too irritating, label them as fascist, or Nazi, or anti-Semitic… The association will, after enough repetition, become ‘fact’ in the public mind.”
Senator Ted Kennedy before he drove the girl off a bridge where she drowned once gloated over the Leftist goal of “facing down individualism.” Senate Minority Leader Chuckie Schumer cackled how “this era of shrinking federal government is over.”
The longer Americans tolerate such antics, the faster communism creeps into our institutions. Next thing you know, we’re eating our canaries in order to survive. Communism, no matter how it’s tried, and it’s been tried by over 40 nations since 1948—always fails.
All we have to do to ensure tyranny in this country is to let these wackos intimidate us into remaining silent and passive. Too many of us have gone AWOL in what may be the last great fight of a free society.
We must not remain silent.
PART II coming soon:
Journalist/author Charles W. Sasser is the author of over 60 books and thousands of magazine articles. Following GOING BONKERS in 2003, his second published work is CRUSHING THE COLLECTIVE: AMERICA’S LAST CHANCE TO REMAIN FREE AND SELF-GOVERNING (2017). He is currently working on a third book in the trilogy, LOONEYVILLE USA: AMERICA’S DESCENT INTO CHAOS AND MADNESS on how the final collapse of freedom in the US. is being accomplished.
Thanks again.
Hey, Jim. You’re quite welcome again. And thank you, old friend. It’s been a long time; maybe soon I’ll be able to get back together with everyone. God bless. chuck sasser
Thank you, Chuck, for another insightful look at the state of affairs nowadays.
Hey, Jim. How are you doing, my friend. I miss all of you–especially the OWFI affair in Oklahoma City when everyone is there. Maybe soon I can get back with everyone at TNW, etc. It’s been a long four years of illness for me–something I’ll never get used to. God bless. chuck sasser
“Members and front organizations must continually embarrass, discredit, and degrade our critics.” This is what Trump has been doing for years. He, also, started his campaign in August to make his followers distrust the post office, so he can claim the election is not valid. He is trying to steal the election and thus our democracy. It shocks me that you support Trump when many renowned military men believe he is a danger to our democracy. As former military, it is difficult to believe that you trust Trump, a man with no military knowledge over real military men.
Sorry, Donna. We can disagree and still remain friends. I do support Trump, primarily because of history. This man may be our last chance to retain the Comnstitution. God bless, Donna. Hope to see everyone soon. chuck sasser
Thanks, Chuck for telling it like it is. God bless!
Hi,Sally. It’s always good to hear from old friends. I think, if we look at history, as I explained in 2003 with GOING BONKERS and now with CRUSHING THE COLLECTIVE, we are at extremely dangerous period in this nation which will determine whether we maintain liberty or accept socialism with Biden, AOC, and all these other. Amazing times in history. Hope to see you guys soon. chuck sasser
Chuck,
You are the Isaiah of our time! My God deliver us from the jackals.
Hey, Jim. It will take God to deliver us, along with freedom-loving people who can see what’s happening with all the rioting, etc. This same thing happened in Lenin’s Moscow, in Berlin, with Mao, Maduro. . .on and on. With always the same result–people eating their canaries to survive. Remember, we have to speak out, we can no longer cower out of fear of being attacked. Anyhow, that’s my opinion–and I think I have some background and experience to back it up. Oh, well. . .Let’s not give up yet. Chuck sasser
